Latest Renovations to York Catholic High School Finished in Time for Start of 2020-21 School Year

August 31, 2020 – After serving as general contractor for renovations to two floors of classrooms and construction of four new science lab classrooms with support storage areas at York Catholic High School, Stewart & Tate Construction was contracted to renovate and repurpose two major areas in the school: the lobby and the cafeteria.
The lobby was reconfigured to provide space for an enlarged nurse’s office, chapel with adjacent sacristy and a larger athletic director’s office with shower room. While the footprint of the lobby remained unchanged, the trophy cases that lined the storefront windows on the west façade of the building were removed to allow more natural light into the space. Electrical and data services were added to complement the new tables and seating that allows students to congregate and collaborate in this area. New acoustical ceilings, LED lighting and paint completed the refresh of this space.
The cafeteria and supporting dishwashing room, adjacent offices and faculty dining room were all revised to better serve the needs of the students, faculty and support staff. In this space, new guidance offices and waiting area, dean of students office, media center and study room were constructed. Also added was a new dishwashing room with modernized equipment and stainless steel tables to streamline this part of the food service function. There is also a new faculty dining room with storage cabinets and faculty toilet room. The cafeteria received new drywall to conceal the old masonry walls, new paint, acoustical ceilings and VCT flooring. The serving line was renovated to include refaced cabinets, new laminate countertops and an aluminum railing that can be removed when a function dictates the need for more space.
All of the renovated spaces received a new HVAC system with automated building management control and new LED lighting.
