Students Visit Stewart & Tate for a Day in Construction

April 21, 2017 – On Thursday, April 20, Kennard-Dale High School seniors visited the Stewart & Tate headquarters to get an inside look at the company and the many opportunities the construction industry has to offer.

Hosted by Stewart & Tate and the York County Economic Alliance (YCEA), Construction Career Day was developed to help increase high school students’ awareness of and interest in, the readily available careers in the local construction industry.

Students learned about the history of the company from President & CEO, Tim Tate and later broke into groups where they toured the facility and learned firsthand from S&T team members about different aspects in construction including estimating, project management, safety, fleet management, and sitework.

The event is a part of YCEA’s Careers in 2 Years marketing initiative to increase awareness by students and their parents, of the many rewarding careers that require two years or less of post-secondary training.

The York County Economic Alliance is the place to start for companies seeking a competitive edge. As York County’s official chamber and economic development organization, it is the resource center that connects businesses to specialized funding, business services, advocacy programs and events that will help their business thrive.
