Johnson Controls Development Center | Shrewsbury, PA
Stewart & Tate served on the general contractor team for the new Johnson Controls Shrewsbury Development Center located on a 57-acre parcel in southern Pennsylvania. One of the largest construction projects in York County in recent years, the project was delivered by a general contractor joint venture between McCarthy Building Companies of St. Louis, PJ Dick of Pittsburgh, and Stewart & Tate.
The $110M project included a three-story 100,000 SF office building for Johnson Controls’ Building Efficiency division employees in engineering, product management, design, and software development, among other departments. Stewart & Tate employees managed the construction of the office building.
The project also included a 286,000 SF building for testing large commercial air conditioning units manufactured by JCI. The testing facility’s ceilings are between 40-60 feet high to fit the equipment to be tested. In addition to managing the office building construction, Stewart & Tate provided substantial resources during the pre-construction phase, as well as support staff during the physical construction of the project.
