Healthcare
Medical facilities are one of the most sensitive, if not the most sensitive, construction settings. Typical construction issues such as noise, dust, vibration, utility interruptions, or even odors within these environments can have life-threatening consequences. Our team of veterans has a proven track record when it comes to safely working within sensitive medical settings.

When Internal Medicine Consultants of York outgrew their existing, outmoded facilities, they selected Stewart & Tate Construction as their contractor. The challenge was to double the size of the facility, relocate, then completely renovate the original offices— all while keeping the practice open and protecting staff and patients from construction hazards.
Initial work was hampered by the need to relocate an entanglement of utilities and create temporary access. Off-hour utility shutdowns made relocation work possible with no down time to the practice.
After relocating and re-establishing the practice over a weekend, work began on the conversion of the existing area into modern medical facilities. This frequently required innovative techniques to install equipment, relocate utilities and services, and create adequate sound attenuation between renovated areas. This project consisted of 4,200 SF of new construction and a 4,300 SF renovation.

This project consisted of a pharmacy, central sterile service area, security center, new 4th floor south wing composed of seven new operating rooms and a PACU, a north wing 4th floor area that contains 28 new beds in the MED/SURG department, connecting bridges at the fourth floor level that tie in to the existing floor of the main hospital, ten new same day surgery rooms, exam rooms, offices, relocation of the helipad, five new elevators, an emergency generator, chillers, cooling towers, and air handling units in a mechanical penthouse.

Stewart & Tate Construction served as general contractor for the renovations to convert Hanover Hospital’s fourth floor patient wing into 16 high-end, single occupancy patient rooms for medical-surgical unit (M-4).
