Crispus Attucks York Breaks Ground for History & Culture Center
November 17, 2023 – We were honored to participate in the groundbreaking for the Crispus Attucks York (CAY) History & Culture Center in downtown York, PA. Representatives from various organizations, including PA State Representative Carol Hill-Evans, Delma Rivera-Lytle of Latinos Unidos of York, and Dr. Sherry Roland-Washington, came together to show their support and to celebrate this momentous occasion. Stewart & Tate’s CEO & President Tim Tate and project architect Frank Dittenhafer presented CAY CEO Bobby Simpson with an official Construction Crew Boss T-shirt and custom hard hat. The ceremony was made even more special as children from the CAY Early Learning Center joined in, bringing their own shovels to help break ground for this historic project.
Stewart & Tate has been selected to serve as the construction manager for the Center that will showcase and educate visitors about the rich history and traditions of African Americans and Latinos in York. Mr. Tate noted, “York is blessed with many Museums but none really tell the story of the African American and Latino communities and the important role they have played in our history. The Cultural Center will. We are looking forward to working with Murphy & Dittenhafer and CAY to bring this vision to reality!”
