Stewart & Tate began to see a need in the 1960's for a
construction company specifically tailored to work in operating manufacturing
plants. Typical general contractors expect to plan and implement the work
around their schedule, not the owners. Our Industrial Division performs its
work by coordinating the construction activities around the client's operations.
Evening or weekend work is often required and special dust control, safety and
noise requirements must be met. The work area must often be finish cleaned and
ready for the customer at the end of each shift - not one time at the end of
the job!
Our personnel understand these special needs and are
prepared and equipped to go to work on a moment's notice. Whether the project
is in a machine shop, food processing facility or a hospital operating room,
Stewart & Tate has the experience to construct the project with a minimum
of inconvenience to our client and their customers.
In order to control the project schedule, the Industrial
Division self performs many of the tasks on a typical project. For instance,
rigging and equipment moving, whether it is a sensitive new medical imaging
device or a large multi axis machine tool, is accomplished safely and
efficiently by our crews utilizing modern equipment and time proven techniques.
The division maintains a team of certified welders for new
structural steel construction as well as repairs and modifications to existing
structures. Our steel erection crews are trained to work inside of existing
facilities and have erected structures in extremely tight places. Additionally,
we operate a fabrication shop to meet the custom fabrication needs often
required by our clients.
Our concrete crews specialize in structural concrete
modifications and new machine foundation construction. Typical projects range
from monolithic machine base pours of greater than 1000CY with hundreds of
anchor bolts to hospital floor strengthening work. Of course, we self perform
all of our own excavation, underground utility and related sitework.
We commonly provide pre-construction services for many
of our customers including, but not limited to, budgeting, value engineering,
and permit acquisition. A considerable amount of time is spent with the
client's staff discussing scheduling and means and methods to assure seamless
integration of our work into ongoing operations. Unlike common general
contractors with separate estimating and project management departments, our
clients work with the same individual from project inception to completion,
avoiding any loss of information through typical handoff meetings.
