Stewart and Tate's roots are in Heavy/Highway construction
work. Over the years, the company has specialized in tackling tough projects
with tight timelines where the superior skills of our people provide added
value to our customer's projects. The recent onset of additional permitting
requirements by local municipalities and states has opened the door for our
staff to work closely with owners during the design and permitting phases
providing value engineering expertise as well as extensive experience with
specific local requirements.
Our sitework experience includes commercial, industrial and
residential projects in south central Pennsylvania
and northern Maryland.
This region presents many different and quickly changing soil conditions and
our crews have experience working in conditions ranging from solid limestone to
silty sands and everything in between. We have recently implemented GPS
technology for our construction stakeout as well as heavy equipment machine
control, both of which improve efficiency resulting in greater value to our
customers.
Stewart & Tate's commercial sitework projects range from
individual pad sites to strip centers to regional shopping malls. Our
industrial projects range from small projects in existing facilities to new
facility construction to the infrastructure for entire industrial parks. The
company's residential work includes the construction of new subdivisions and
all associated infrastructure.
Our bituminous paving crews are PennDOT certified and
routinely work in heavy traffic environments. We are equally comfortable
performing pavement rehabilitation work as well as new construction. Many local
utilities rely on Stewart & Tate to perform their permanent pavement
patching. We use the latest computer technology to organize, schedule and track
thousands of patches every year.
The company has always maintained in house capability for
concrete construction. In addition to retaining walls, we have completed many
bridges and box culverts on local roads. When concrete repair and restoration
work is part of the job, our crews are both prepared and qualified to perform
the work.
We maintain specialized utility crews capable of installing
every type of underground utility that our customers may require. From trunk lines
to individual services, our personnel have the equipment to complete the work
properly, safely and efficiently.
Stewart & Tate's demolition crews have played a
very active role in the renaissance of south central Pennsylvania's urban centers. Our notable York projects include the demolition of the former Penn
Hotel on the site of the new York County Courthouse
and the selective demolition and façade wall restoration of five structures in
the 100 block of South George
Street.
